New Year's Resolution

Friday, December 30, 2011 @ 8:03 PM

So here it is. 2011 is almost coming to an end, and another year awaits for all of us. As I reflect back on all the events that have altogether compiled into one whole, bittersweet year, I can only hope that the following would be a smooth connecting bridge to all the goals and hopes that I have in my mind at this point of time. I have decided to make an official list this time, rather than just telling me in my head what the resolution would be...and then proceed to forget it after a few days. I hope that from this list, I will be more commited and steadied towards what I would like to accomplish this year, and maybe give others the motivation to write out their own New Year's Resolution list as well.

Let's all make 2012 a year to remember.

My New Year's Resolution:

1) Learn how to play the guitar. Self-teaching didn't really seem to work for me so I guess taking up classes would have to be the option.
2) Spend less time on Social Networking sites, like the one we all know oh-so-well - FACEBOOK. I am determined to have higher standards for myself, especially towards my school performances.
3) Get at least 7 hours of sleep a day. I know it would not always be possible given the workload I get from school, but I think it would be an obtainable goal for the most part, given that I spend last time off-task.
4) Lose 5kg - in a healthy manner of course. Please don't judge me and assume that I am insecure about my body or weight. I am fine with how I am, but I know that losing some weight with exercise and eating healthier will also be of a benefit to me. :]
5) Get on the High Honor Roll 8] I am currently in the Honor Roll (and it's fine), but I guess I'm still with the idea of really having higher standards with my studies, and life in general.
6) Spend more time with my family, and especially visiting my father's side of the family more often than I usually would (I happen to already be quite close with my mom's side of the family since they live really near to our house and they would visit us really often as well).
7) Be a better role model for my sister. I know that at times when I become super frustrated, I blurt out things that I should not, and that would probably give my sister a bad impression on how to behave given she is still in her pre-teen years. She still has so much to learn, and I just need to be aware of when the right time would be for her to know what she needs to know, and when it wouldn't.be so appropriate.
8) Finish my Grade 7 exam for piano and pass it with flying colors. That is, I would need to organize myself to practice the piano for at least 30 minutes a day. It's a commitment and I must make myself commit to this.
9) Update my blog, Flickr and DeviantART at least once a week. That is, I would need to be motivated and find more things to do interesting things to do outside that are worth blogging or posting about. I will try my best to dedicate an amount of my weekend to accomplish this, hoping that I get the schoolwork aside first.
10) Limit my time spent of computer games. Kind of repetitive from my limiting Facebook goal, but just to ensure that I am committed towards acheiving the abundant of hardworking goals I have for myself.

Okay I have 10 now, but I guess to give it an satisfying finale I need something that is rather relevant to my blog. So, *drumroll please*

11) TAKE MORE PHOTOGRAPHS. This is my last and most important goal because what are memories if we do not have anything to look back on visually? (you may have different views...but that's okay) Back to my point, I already have a few travel plans and a photoshoot planned out, so I am hoping that I will become more consistent with that throughout the entire year and share them as much as I can on my blogs and other websites that I am currently active with. Be sure to stay tuned to that!

So now, what is YOUR New Year's Resolution?.

Lampang

Wednesday, December 28, 2011 @ 10:26 PM

During the past weekend, my family and I traveled to the North where we visited the Lampang and Chiang Mai provinces. This post will focus on my trip around Lampang, and in a couple of days I will be uploading the photos from Chiang Mai on a seperate entry.

So. Lampang. - The reason that my family had decided to head North in the first place was because two of my mom's workers (who are supposedly each others co-worker) were getting married in Lampang, where the bride's family lives. After a 7 hour long car ride to Lampang, we arrived at the hotel and readied ourselves for the wedding reception that evening.

There was a giant cage of parrots at the hotel we stayed at for the night. I love their colorful feathers!

There was also this dog laying around the hotel area with heterochromia. Click on the picture for a larger view!

A view of the hotel we stayed at, called the Grand Amazon Hotel.

My little sister, Lily, all dressed up for the wedding.

Me!

Lily and my grandma, who didn't attend the wedding with us.

My sister and my mommy.

Us wedding attendants!

The family post-wedding. We decided then to walk around the streets of Lampang where they had many beautiful decorations set up.

In front of the King Tritan waterfall!

A group of teenages/young adults were performing around there as well. They were really good!

Day 2.

We visited a temple!

A horse carriage. I saw many of these all over the streets of Lampang!

At the front of the temple.

At the entrance of the temple.

Inside the temple.

Dad writing our names all over the candle, which we would individually light later.

My name!

My mom writing our family names on this big cloth.

Our names! Me and my sister wrote our own names (they're the darkest ones). My mom also wrote in my aunt and my cousin's name for them even though they didn't come with us.

My dad wrote in my grandpa and grandma's names as well, both of whom have just passed away recently. RIP.

One of my favorite shots! People make these money strings by stapling in their own money. My family also helped to contribute to these money strings.

Fam shots!

Ringing the giant bell.

My grandma adding in my little cousin's name on the big cloth as well.

Stopped for lunch here.

Northern Thai Khao Soi.

Our next stop was the Jaezon Hot Springs!

People buy eggs to cook in the hot springs water. The instructions say for the eggs to be left underwater for 17 minutes before taking out, to ensure that the egg yolk cooks and that the egg whites remain liquid-y. Apparently that is the best recipe for good tasting egg :)

We met my mom's co-worker at the site as well. They also had taken the chance to continue vacationing after having attended the wedding.

Me and Lily dipping our feets into the hot springs water.

Grandma decides to take it a little further, dipping in half her leg and her arms into the hot springs water.

My cheerful little sister.

At the waterfall.

Dipping our hands into the freezing cold waterfall water.

There were better shots of them but my mom was a little shy of them so I decided to upload only this one :)

Ending the photo collection with some flower shots.

Stay tuned for the upcoming Chiang Mai photos!
